Applications are invited for an IT Project Manager at Herotel, to be based in Stellenbosch. This person will report to the IT Executive.

DESCRIPTON OF THE ROLE:
The IT Project Manager will be responsible for the management of all IT- related projects, as well as the rollout and audit of all IT policies.

Key responsibility areas will include but not be limited to:

Operational Management

  • Developing, implementing, and reviewing the adoption of IT policies and procedures.
  • Assisting and overseeing the planning and execution of short- and long-term departmental goals and objectives.
  • Identifying and addressing challenges and opportunities for the department.
  • Ensure that all non-day-to-day challenges, issues or tasks are acknowledged and addressed.
  • Coordinating priorities for team members in the department.
  • Providing administrative support to the head of the department.
  • Support & motivate team performance and give feedback to the team.
  • Effective and efficiently onboard new IT team members.
  • Establish programs and create processes under guidance from head of the department.

Project Management

  • Ensuring project deadlines are met.
  • Adapt project plans to changes in requirements and scope.
  • Ensuring projects adhere to frameworks and all project documentation is maintained.
  • Identifying and assessing project risks and issues and provide solutions where applicable.
  • Ensuring stakeholder views are managed towards the best solution.
  • Developing project strategies, maintaining, and monitoring project plans, project schedules,budgets and expenditures.
  • Facilitate cross-functional projects and/or programs.

Reporting and administration

  • Assist with feedback and reporting of departmental goals and objectives.
  • Organizing, attending and participating in stakeholder meetings.
  • Document and follow up on important actions and decisions from meetings.
  • Weekly/Monthly actual vs budget analysis and updates
  • Develop and improve an evaluation method to assess the quality of projects/programs, systems, and process, identifying strengths, risks and weaknesses in order to improve.
  • Continuously assess the progress of programs/projects.
  • Compliance/Quality and efficiency levels at which projects/programs are executed.
  • Efficiency and effectiveness of processes Risks and/or challenges identified.
  • Communicate and report verbally and in writing to other team members and management as required.
  • Produce monthly reports of activities.

    The successful candidate must have the following experience/skills: Work Experience and Skills:

    • 4+ Years’ experience in Project Management.
    • 2+ Years’ experience working in an IT or systems environment, including systems rollout experience.
    • Experience in administering SharePoint, MS Office 365 and ticket management tools would be an advantage.
    • Ability to build consensus and relationships among teams, stakeholders and peers.
    • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
    • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
    • Ability to work on tight deadlines.
    • Strong detailed oriented approach to task execution.
    • Ability to collaborate with the wide range of individuals involved in project management.

    Qualifications:

    • Formal project management qualification required.
    • A formal IT or relevant business/project management qualification is advantageous.
